BarclayWealth The 2010 Walpole E-business Forum brought to you in association with Barclays Wealth

Following the most turbulent and prolonged period of disruption for the luxury market in North America, Walpole’s annual luxury Forum brought together experts, practitioners, retailers and brands from both sides of the Atlantic.  The aim was to investigate to what degree the crisis has changed the market and to provide actionable insights.  In addition the panels looked at the growing South American market with a special focus on Brazil.  The impressive collection of speakers and panellists endeavoured to understand the growth opportunities and pitfalls of a part of the world that, despite everything, remains one of the world’s most important and wealthiest regions, and whose significance is sometimes overshadowed by the interest in Asia.

  • The affluent American Consumer:  Analysis of most relevant current trends amongst premium & luxury customers, with a special focus changes post-crisis and the younger affluents.  Also cross-referenced with corresponding online behaviour and attitudes.

  • Trade Craft:  A review of the most recent retail and wholesale developments and tips and best practise from the professionals; buyers and brands.  What to avoid, where to invest, what you can’t afford to ignore.

  • Effective Engagement:  A survey of the latest and most effective CRM techniques from some of the most advanced practitioners, including the digital dimension.

  • America Online:  A review of what is changing from the most sophisticated eBusiness market in the world.

  • Case Histories:   A range of real experiences from companies big and small, charting what has worked and what hasn’t.

  • Offprice:  After the greatest period of panic discounting what is the future for luxury pricing in North America?  Is it impossible to turn the clock back? An examination of the growing off & online trend in Private Sales and other sites and stores specialising in disposals of marked down stock and how to integrate this into the rest of the business cycle.

  • The B in BRIC:  An authoritative introduction and update from Brazil and other key South American luxury markets.  We heard from the from the frontline, from brands who are there, on the opportunities and restrictions, from locals on how to get the best out of this huge and growing region.
