First Press Breakfast for 2012

Boodles

A press breakfast took place on Thursday 26th January with Laura Chesters of the Independent, Independent on Sunday and Evening Standard. Boodles kindly hosted the breakfast in their New Bond Street store with members attending from Annoushka, Boodles, Burberry, Ettinger, Johnstons of Elgin, Linley, Little Venice Cake Company, Mungo & Maud and Royal Opera House.

A press breakfast focusing on British Craftsmanship took place on Thursday 13th October with Henrietta Thompson, Editor at Large for Wallpaper* Magazine. The breakfast was hosted by Silverlining at Gallery 8, which was showing an exhibition about the bespoke furniture maker.

Walpole hosted a PR Breakfast focusing on hotels and restaurants on Wednesday 21^st September at Home House with journalist Christopher Thompson, UK Companies Reporter from the Financial Times. The intimate group of members discussed a range of topics including the member companies’ strong performance, preparations for 2012 with the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and foreign investment in the sector.

Watches & Jewellery Press Breakfast

As part of Walpole’s programme of annual press breakfast, Walpole hosted a PR Breakfast focusing on watches and jewellery took place on Thursday 21^st July at Home House with journalist Claire Adler of the Telegraph and Financial Times. The intimate group of members discussed a range of topics including the market outlook, consumer trends and the appeal of watches and jewellery as a career path.

Walpole Press Breakfast at Grosvenor

On 18th March, 2008 Walpole in conjunction with Grosvenor held a PR breakfast with Steve Hawkes Retail Correspondent for the Times. An intimate group of chief executives and directors from Walpole members met to discuss a wide range of topics from online initiatives to the current economic climate, and looking ahead to the future. Attendees included Grosvenor, Liberty, DAKS, Candy & Candy, Boodles, Bill Amberg & Ettinger. A big thank you to Grosvenor who provided a delightful breakfast.

Walpole Press Breakfast at Wedgwood

Daniel McAllister, Retail Correspondent of City AM met with 10 Walpole Member Directors to discuss a plethora of subjects from their brand and recent business initiatives, to economics, marketing and general strategic outlook for 2008.

Showcase For Press & Buyers, New York

Walpole hosted its second Press and Buyers Day in New York. The event took place at the St Regis Hotel, the very fashionable sister hotel to Walpole member, The Lanesborough. Throughout the day, 150 Press and Buyers visited members displays, taking away with them a feel for the best products British Luxury has to offer. Tracy Paul and NMA organised the event on behalf of our members.

International Press Trips

In autumn 2006 Walpole organised, in conjunction with Visit Britain, Visit London and Visit Scotland, for two groups of international and US journalists to visit members in the UK. The visits were immensely successful with high level of involvement from Walpole Members, generating superb, high quality coverage for the UK Luxury industry.

In 2008 Walpole will look to repeat such initiatives with high-profile international press in order to highlight the importance of what will be the next Olympic country after China. Please contact the Walpole office if you would like to be a part of the proposed visit.
